Land surface analysis by ADEOS/POLDER

چکیده
In this paper we have analyzed the ADEOS/POLDER data over Mongolia obtained in June 13, 1997. We estimated aerosol's optical thickness and Ångström exponent from both the reflectance and polarization data at 443 nm for the desert area. Using the atmospheric correction scheme based on the retrieval aerosol optical parameters, we got estimates the surface reflectance form POLDER data at 443, 670, and 865 nm. Then we got the Roujean's BRDF parameters for land surfaces.

Validation of the Lsa Saf Fvc and Lai Prototype Algorithm with Polder/adeos Data over Western Europe
The SAF on Land Surface Analysis (LSA SAF) is aimed to produce operationally land surface products taking full advantage of the new EUMETSAT meteorological satellites by the end of its Initial Operational phase (2005-2007). Our main concern in LSA SAF is to develop the algorithm for retrieving Leaf Area Index (LAI) and Fraction of Vegetation Cover (FVC), as well as to validate the derived produ...
متن کاملBio-geophysical land surface parameters derived from ADEOS-2/POLDER-2 multi-angular measurements
Monitoring of terrestrial vegetation from satellites at global and regional scales requires accurate and frequent measurements of surface reflectance. In this context, the POLDER instrument leads a key improvement providing, at high temporal resolution, measurements of the Bi-directional Reflectance Distribution Function corrected for atmospheric effects. In the frame of the ADEOS2/POLDER-2 pro...
متن کاملApparent pressure derived from ADEOS-POLDER observations in the oxygen A-band over ocean
The POLDER radiometer was on board the ADEOS satellite from August 1996 to June 1997. This instrument measures radiances in eight narrow spectral bands of the visible and near infrared spectrum. Two of them are centered on the 02 A-band in order to infer cloud pressure. By assuming the atmosphere behaves as a pure absorbing medium overlying a perfect reflector, an "apparent" pressure Papp is de...
متن کاملFirst results of the POLDER "Earth Radiation Budget and Clouds" operational algorithm
The POLDER instrument is devoted to global observations of the solar radiation reflected by the earthatmosphere system. Algorithms of the “Earth Radiation Budget and Clouds” processing line implemented at the French Space Center are applied to ADEOS-POLDER data. First results on derived cloud properties are presented from POLDER level 2 data of 10 November 1996 and level 3 products of June 1997...
متن کاملImproving global scale land cover classifications with multi-directional POLDER data and a decision tree classifier
Several investigations indicate that the Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function (BRDF) contains information that can be used to complement spectral information for improved land cover classification accuracies. Prior studies on the addition of BRDF information to improve land cover classifications have been conducted primarily at local or regional scales. Thus, the potential benefits o...
